Asun is all about roasted goat meat in pepper and onion sauce. The first time i had Asun was during my NYSC orientation camp days in Sagamu Ogun State at the Mami market. I was one of those who din't eat camp food (simply because i prefer to pick my meal) so breakfast, lunch, dinner was mami market. And on this good night after catfish pepper soup with my bunky, we were headed towards our hostel when i noticed this man stirring something with huge smoke and i asked my bunky what it was and she said Asun (roasted goat). Immediately i heard goat, I changed my direction with immediate effect towards the direction of the smoke lol ( my love for meat). And that was how this romance between Asun and Seki started o hahahaha.

Ingredients

  • 1kg Goat meat
  • 2 Large red bell pepper (dice 1 and roughly blend the other)
  • 8 pieces scotch bonnet pepper
  • 2 Medium onions (dice 1 and roughly blend the other)
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • seasoning
  • salt
  • vegetable oil
  • green bell pepper (diced (optional))

Directions

Step 1
I buy my goat meat whole without dicing it so i can roast it whole. So wash the goat meat and pat dry.
Step 2
roast the goat meat either on a grill,stove, or oven
Step 3
roast both sides properly (i usually roast until the meat hardens and shrinks because roasting continues later after dicing)
Step 4
place the roasted goat meat on cutting board or worktop and dice
Step 5
then take the diced meat back to the grill and continue roasting
Step 6
roast until the color of the meat looks fried
Step 7
then place the roasted diced meat in a bowl
Step 8
blend one of the bell pepper,one of the onions and all the peppers roughly
Step 9
pour the roughly blended peppers and onions on the diced goat meat in the bowl
Step 10
add the nutmeg,salt and seasoning
Step 11
mix properly and cover with a cling film and place in the fridge for 30-40 minutes to marinade
Step 12
after 40 minutes, pour the goat meat in a pan and add water then cover to boil until meat is tender. keep adding water if needed under tender to taste and completely dry but not burnt and set aside

then place a pan with little vegetable oil on the fire and allow to heat up, add the other diced green and red bell pepper and onions and fry for 1 minute

then pour in the goat meat and continue stir frying for 2-3 minutes
