This is a great idea for christmas, and it is fun making these with the kids as well. Milk is usually not necessary when making traditional cookies(as unsalted butter is made from pure cow's milk so the milky taste of your cookie comes from the butter). When buying butter for this purpose, check the composition (ingredients) and if it does not say made from pasteurized cow's milk then its not pure cow milk butter. It is usually hard to find in Nigeria and even when you do its a bit expensive. So if you can't lay your hands on one, you can add powdered milk to your ingredients and also if you can't find unsalted butter, then skip the addition of salt.
Baking powder is also not a necessity when making cookies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons corn starch/corn flour
- 100g unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 tablespoons icing sugar
- sprinkle(red,white,green)
